Ms Layne's acting career began over 20 years ago in the United States, with major roles on the American stage in Los Angeles, Philadelphia and New York. Beginning with "The Lady in Yellow" Group theatre's production of "For Colored Girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf"; a choreopoem by Ntozaka Shange; vivid narratives revealing what it is to be a color and female in North America. Directed by Tony awarded original cast member Trazana Beverly. Performing in more than 50 major stage productions across the United States, from the classics to original American works. Including working in Spanish in Garcia Lora's "House of Bernarda Alba" with the Bilingual Foundation of the Arts in Los Angeles.

She has also contributed her talents to social issues: as an actor/speaker with New Beginnings (an organization for Battered Women and their Children) and local access (a theatre troupe which toured with a program on Domestic violence and child abuse) At present Ms Layne is concentrating her energies and talents in film, beginning with Educational Emmy awarded "Greystone," a true story about institutionalized women used for prostitution during the 1950's. Here in Canada as Cha Cha in "All American Girl: The Mary Kay Letourneau Story with Penelope Anne Miller. Under the banner of Three Eagles Productions, which Ms Layne founded she wrote, produced and acted in two projects, which are currently under distribution with V Tape: "In the Name of Love" an erotic story of a woman's sexual journey through S&M and intimacy along with "Love Me" in which three woman of color deal with identity and sexual morality.

Ms Layne has just completed writing two feature length screenplays, "Swimming in Vanilla Dreams" a film about racism in the future and "Blind Embrace" a provocative raw account of a mixed black heritage woman's struggle to overcome a psychological and emotionally abusive relationship. "Blind Embrace" has now been optioned. Currently Ms. Layne has completed production on the film "NEED" which has been picked up by Echelon Studios. Along with completing "NEED" Ms. Layne has just completerd production on "Weight of Tradition"; a social commentary on society through dance, and the contrast between freedom and confinement. At present Ms. Layne is now completed the screen play "Sad Eyes" and will act as producer on the feature film "Sad Eyes": a story of mixed African heritage woman caught between grief, love and the brutality of the uan trafficking trade.

Her driving vision as an actor and writer is to bring to the forefront powerful, personal stories of importance to the human spirit.
